Issue with Marantz 2230

Hello all! i've been dealing with an issue with my marantz 2230 off and on for about a year now. there is a loud popping/screech/fuzz coming out of the right channel of the 2230. no matter where the volume is/ or what buttons i have pushed it is always the same volume which sounds like it could blow my speakers. about 4 months ago i acquired a Marantz model 140 for a really good deal so now i'm just slaving the 2230 as a preamp and the popping issue has started to come back within the last few days. the weird thing is sometimes it won't happen for months at a time, but it still eventually comes back.. i initially had my tech change all the white caps on the tone board, because that's what he recommended, but the problem is still there. i've also tried different speakers/etc. i've uploaded a video to youtube that i filmed of the receiver making the popping sound. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes cooling or heating an area can help isolate and provoke intermittent problems.
I've never heard an amp make that type of sound. Bizarre !
Try tapping around on the chassis with a insulated or plastic stick (diddle stick).
You might just get lucky and find a sensitive area to localize the source of the pop.
I just finished servicing a customers 2252B. Beautiful and very well built piece of machinery.

That is interesting. Happens on all sources?

Could be transistors in the preamp.

2SC1000, and 2SC458 transistors are WELL known to do just that. Your "tech" should have known that, and known "white caps" aren't the problem.
