Mine is/was doing it too. Seems to be a Firefox 96.0 issue, just updated to 96.0.1.

I think that was my problem as well.
I was going to chime in a say I think it all started when Firefox updated - I guess that was the 96.0 version? -, I saw your post, updated to 96.0.0 and all is good now.

Had problems on AK last Thursday. Whatever I did, posting something, giving a "Live" or reply, a pop up screen wanted me to log in again for each thing! Figured it out that it was my anti-virus that updated and must have changed something. Changed a few things, and now AK is back to normal again. 
Which makes diagnosing individual user's problems so difficult. Lots of moving parts (so to speak) between the AK server(s) and the end user's screen. In my case: Computer with Firefox and AdBlock, Windows 10.

Next time your access seems slow, run a speed test from speedtest.net. If the results are slow, then it's somewhere in your ISP chain. If the results are normal, then do the next step:
Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC, all at the same time. This will bring up the Task Manager. Click on the "Performance" tab and you will be presented with a page of graphs. Along the right side you will see small windows labeled "CPU", "Memory", "Disk 0" (and possibly "Disk 1" or more if you have other drives), and a couple of others. It's the first three that you will focus on. If any of those three are near the top of their respective windows, then your computer is overly busy and might not be able to respond quickly.

I also had the same issues last week. Using FF and the day before had a big Windows update. Caused FF to update after.
Could go to another browser and no problems.
Did a few scans cleared junk off rebooted computer a few times. Check FF versions. Repaired installation...
Finger crossed it been working since on my laptop.
It was a FF/AK problem some how. No other sites were effected. No problems over at PC.

Hmm. I had a different Firefox problem- when it updated, I could no longer get into my email provider- once I logged in, it kept rubber-banding me back to the "check email" screen...it wouldn't transition to the page for my email.
I had to actually delete Firefox, and reinstall version 95 to get my email to work. Since then, I haven't let Firefox update, yet.
I wonder if that's why I didn't have this problem, here? Since I have been (and still am) on version 95?

Probably the case Gordon.
96.0 was only live for a few days when issues occurred here and they soon put through the patch 96.0.1 to fix some proxy issues. Problem gone. I note I'm already on patch 96.0.2
I had some weird FF issues as well. Crashed 6 times on me the other day. Had to reboot to get the machine stable. Up to 96.0.2 as well and so far, so good.
I got FF/AK problems since last Wednesday. I am at AK for a couple of minutes and then lose FF connection. It is a AK issue, because it does not happen elsewhere.
I know it loads veeeery slow lately, Especially high volume hours, No, It’s not on my end
