Well I had a feeling last night I would come into speakers today, never imagined it would be this.

To start the story, I seen an estate sale that stated there was lots of audio and dynaco stuff, house wasn't old enough to be full of vintage audio and the dynaco stuff looked SS to me. So I decided not to go.

I then went with a friend to yard sales around town, go to one and see a pair with stands in the back for free, ask to confirm he said yes well couldn't argue so I loaded them up

I came home and said well lets go and to some other sales. I left and headed to the estate sale just to see whats left, stripped down like a turkey bone. I go upstairs looking for bits and pieces that may have been over looked....WELL HELLO!!! I walk into the closet and notice these monsters looking back at me. I was well they must want an arm n leg for them, hints why they are still here. Went down stairs, she said she was asking 200 a piece but since its late in the day make an offer. I said the woofers are bad and veneer is lifting...she said what about 50$. I went up and measured no way they would fit in the benz, told her I had to pass. Then she said the hauler is coming tomorrow to junk em :yikes: so I had to make an attempt. In the trunk they go with 4 feet sticking out and a 30 mile trip home. They made it! and DAMN are they heavy!!!!!

good lord yes...as you'll find out from plenty of people more expert than myself on Infinity speakers that both are wonderful finds, and you'll find theme extremely helpful and supportive in your efforts with them. Just be prepared to feed them plenty of power if you're looking to optimize their performance...older Infinitys are superb speakers well worth bringing back to full song..you are to be congratulated:thmbsp:

What benz ? if its a old one Thay may be worth more? No slam on your benz just say ing there are a lot of 500,000 MI benzes out there.

I'm sad now.....

Just kidding man, those speakers look tooooo good to be true. I found a pair of 5x7 2 way infinity car speakers for 10$ and thought that was a steal! And even those sound good.

Thats a hard call, my benz is a 1982 euro 300D. Euro are hard to find here in the states and mine seems to call the eye of the collector a lot. Pretty rare to see a benz with no leather, ac, power windows, turbo.

Oh its true or so my back says so. I was amazed that no one else tackled the job, I understand they are big n heavy and were up stairs. But I would have thought someone else would have known what they were. But then again how many people look in a clothing closet for speakers?

Anyone know of any good refoamers in CA? I was thinking of going to this guy

congratulations! i got my pair of QLS1s for $50, too! are they worth it? yep. your pair looks to be in wonderful shape driver-wise, better than mine. the midranges can be fixed for around $30-40 a piece if they have broken wires, or you can try to fix them yourself. the EMITs are hopefully all working, but if not they can sometimes be easily repaired, or simply bought for around $50-$75 each. for as good of a deal as you got, IMHO it's worth it to get those back in tip-top shape. they sound incredible with a powerful-enough amp (or amps). some of the best bass you can get from an infinity speaker.

Yep, Neal's is the place to go in Sacto. He did my Advents. Works out of his garage, filled with interesting speakers, mostly from guitar amps.

You really need that truck... :)

Awesome, going to call him monday, he said 30$ a speaker. Great price and I know there done right. Hate to have voice coil rub on such hard to find speakers.

I know, my friend has one but he was busy today. I called and asked. :D

:yikes::yikes::yikes::yikes::drool::drool::drool::drool:

Holy sheep dip!! You made out like a bandit!! Congrats on scoring some mighty fine speakers.

I am going to take the woofers down next week to have them all refoamed, I don't think I want to do my first refoam on such a high end speaker. I will then power them up and see whats alive and whats DOA. I imagine everything works, as the last owner had mounds of audio and speakers from what I noticed and he loved oprea, so I am hoping. They need some of the veneer glued back down too.

Heres a question do you think a fisher 800C would be able to power them? I don't have a 100-500watt amp. I do have a pair of eico HF-35's that would look great sitting on top :D

That's the problem with finding smoking deals on big Infinity's. Then you need to find something to power them.:banana: I'm sure someone will offer up an opinion on a wallet friendly high powered amp.

If all the drivers function you have one of the scores of the year. Empty that roll of t-paper(if you havent already) and fire them up, listening carefully to each and every driver for sound. You will probably have to patiently find a sweet spot on the reostats to hear the domes and EMITs. Have fun!

Haha. Goodluck with that fisher 800C and the QLS.

Yep I know after I was reading the spec sheet I found with them I was like yep, now wheres the amp :scratch2: I did find a nice holman pre amp for 5$, oh and the other day I found a nice pioneer SA-6500 II for 9$ the other day, yes I know I am not progressing to a hire watt amp :D

I do like this set up
