My local thrift has had very little since they became the "warehouse store" for that charity's chain of shops. But today, I scored big time. I picked up a Pioneer SX 780 receiver in near mint condition for $12.00 It sounds great, all the pots and switches are quiet, all the lights work. A great way to end the year

Clyde - great score!

I've found that with the thrifts, you just have to keep popping in every now and then, with no expectations. Then, every once in a great while, bingo!

It's nice to hear inspirational stories to keep us going!

I have always said that any Pioneer collector has to have a SX-780.
Good score and you cant beat that price. :thmbsp:

What thrift was this?! Of course we don't have stable electricity in Hanover NH, much less decent thrift stores, but when I was in WA I saw a SX-434 (engraved with the former owner's name, no doubt) that went for a full $20. Come to think of it, I should have called him up on his etched phone # and verbally dressed him down for ruining a piece of vintage electronics. Wow! a 780! Congrats on a lucky day for you!

OK, here is a bad pic. I forgot how hard it is to take a flash picture of something shinny.
