Close! The Dragon Swamp near Saluda but that's going back into the late 1600s - more recently my folks are from up around the Essex/Caroline line. There's one big piece of land still owned by distant cousins known as "The Old Home Place" near Farmer's Fork. Went to a big family reunion there a few years back . . . incredible! Was taken out in the middle of a huge corn field to see my Great-great-great-great Grandfather's stone . . . his house is there, too - what's left of it. I love to hear that Tidewater accent - it really takes me back. The cooking wasn't bad, either.

How does the BSR in your Electra sound? Mine looks rather mid-fi at best. I also have a Dual 1009 that came from another Fisher console that someone hacked up to replace what ever electronics were originally there. The 1009 may not be period correct, but may sound better.

If you listen to 78's the BSR is fine. Also with T.S. lp's it's ok. I can get mine down to 1.5gr so I have used it with a couple of almost good lp's with no bad effect. It does have a bit more rumble than the DUAL.

Keep the BSR in a bag inside the Regent, and install the 1009. It's leagues better sounding.

Larry, thanks for the reply. I'll do just that. The BSR, although in very good shape, may not do the rest of the system justice. On that point I'm only guessing as I haven't heard this console play.

You can change cartridges on the BSR also. IIRC mine had a cheapy AT on it, and it sounded like shite. Put a V15F (Pickering V15 (F=FISHER)) and it sounded pretty decent. But the motor/platter rumble is something I couldn't live with even after cleaning /lube, at least on the FISHER. I've pulled it and plan on a ELAC 770.

Red, quite interesting to have roots that you can trace back that far. We're 80% of the time in the Lancaster area, having not been able to sell our home in Charlottesville (which we now call little NOVA due to the influx of humanity over the the last 30 years.) I've gotten a lot of windshield time driving thru T-town, Aylett ect.
We will be back in Cville in a couple of weeks and will at that time pull the receiver and get some more pics if that would be of interest. Cville is where the console is currently resting.
