More likely just typical purile pranking, we have movable letter sign boards instead of rickety outhouses and the signboards get more attention than just one person in a cranny pushed over on it's door.

Yes, I had a friend who, when walking past the McDonalds sign which read "NOW HIRING CLOSERS" just couldn't help himself and removed the "C".
