I've got a stoopid "How to" question....

TejasRichard

Babies taste of chicken..
How do you put a pic in a post? I don't mean as an attachment, or as a thumbnail, but actually part of the text of the post. I've tried everything that came to mind....I did a precursory search to see if anyone else had this issue (but apparently i'm the only picture dummy out there)...so if one of you web gurus would be so kind as to enlighten me on this bit of knowledge, I will be forever in your debt. Well, maybe not forever, but this would be good for at least a week of indebtedness. Yes, indebtedness is actually a word.

Is there any way to do this with pictures from the AK Photo Gallery?

Yes, someone please explain how to do this. I have been trying to get some pics from the AK Photo Gallery into a post, but have not had much luck in doing it that way!

OK you are trying to post a pic from the manage attachments? Ok hers what I have done in the past, Take a photo from the attachments and put it in the wording preferably after a completed sentence you can put the cursor whereever you want it and click on attachments P9270025.jpg then put the cursor afteer the attachment and continue to post! Is this what you meant? You can put it anywhere as long as you move the cursor to the other side of the attachmaent.

Ok, I guess I'm being a dunce now. If I try and reply to the message, I can only get to -manage attachments-.... which wants to download a pic from my computer, not pull it out of the AK photo gallery. Am I missing an obvious menu choice somewhere?

OK, I thought I was being smart but you have to right click on those images and not left click. I don't know why......

Once you download the pic to manage attachments then the jpeg shows up. You can now attach the jpeg anywhere you want it by putting your cursor whever you want the pic and simply click on the jpeg. Wala its there continue typing.

Ok, now I'm sure I'll be donning the dunce cap here....however..... I still don't get it.

I want to post pictures inside my messages that have already been loaded to my Members Photo Gallery. I don't want to download them -again- from my computer.
Somewhere in this forum I noticed that Grumpy discouraged folks from posting pictures from sites like photobucket, etc. ......... basically because it destroyed the integrity of AK to a degree. That is, if a message contains photos from an external source, and that source "disappears" or gets closed down, then AK is left with messages that used to contain photos, but now do not. In many cases these photos are integral to the context of the message, and without them the messages become worthless.
If I try using manage attachments I can either browse, which only lets me download items from my computer...... or..... I can try and type in a url link for the photo. If I try that using the url of a AK members gallery photo, I get a "invalid" message or something like that.

Obviously I'm missing something here.

This image below is linked from my AK gallery:
watermark.php

You need to know the image file number assigned by vBulletin. The syntax for the link is: http://www.audiokarma.org/gallery/watermark.php?file=insert file # here&size=1

You will also need to wrap that link in "IMG" tags so vBulletin will render the link as its source, and not a link. You can find out all you will ever need to know about bbcode here.

Your final line should look like this:
[noparse]
watermark.php
[/noparse]

You can find more links to image handling advice in the Helpful threads thread in the Introductions forum. :music:

First, go to the photo in the gallery that you want to insert, open it and then copy the URL for the photo at the top of your screen. Then go to the message composition screen. There is a toolbar above the message text box. On that toolbar is a little mountain icon called "insert image." Put your cursor where you want the image, click the icon, and that opens a dialogue box that asks for the URL of the image. Right click and select Paste to enter the URL of your image. Viola. That's how I do it anyway.

This is actually very simple. All you need to do is to put the URL of the image between the html image tags. So when you find your image (AK Gallery, the Internet, etc) you copy the URL and paste it between these tags

if you upload the image from your computer, preview the post, click on the image in the preview window and copy the URL of the image from a new window that opens. Than paste that into the above tags
