So, I had a guy pick up this rather nice Dual 1229Q from me tonight after I did a minor tune-up on it. It needed some of the usual things and works much better now that I addressed the simple stuff. One day he might bring it back for the full meal deal as it has very short spin down time for example (20 seconds vs the 2 minutes of my 1019s and 1219). Anyway, it was the $50 tune-up, not the $150 one...

However I got a call from him a few minutes after he got home. His record he thought was skipping backwards in the first groove, or that was sort of what he described.
I walked him through the classic Dual arm reset and some other things and then said, ok, I will be right over, which was about 10 blocks way. :zoom:
Well, guess what he was playing? Yeah, the brand new copy of Lazaretto he got on the weekend. And of course it was side A that specifically is DESIGNED to play backwards. :bash: Of course I was fooled at first too (I don't have the record yet) and then remembered the Ultra disc features. :withstpd::dammit:
Yep, damn you Jack White. :butt2: You are not conducive to automatic turntables.
