Jail TT

What does that have to do with jail?

Electronic devices that go into jails are often made of clear plastic to make it easier to tell if someone's trying to smuggle something in or just using it as a hiding spot for contraband. I see TVs like that from time to time. Never seen a turntable though. That's pretty unique. Not $350 unique, but still a curiosity nonetheless.

You are a man who has never watched a documentary on the American prison system. The first time I saw the clear televisions they are required to have, I thought it was such an odd thing. I understand why they do it, but they just look so weird.

Apparently the seller is also a comedian on the side.

That is one f$$ked up shipping route there.

Reminds me of the clear HPM-100 speakers that were used as store demos. Bet that was also some kind of demo unit. Very cool.

To say it was frustrating to watch unfold is an understatement. Ultimately traced back to a keystroke error by the clerk in my PO which caused the parcel to get into a "loop" in the automation at the sorting facilities.

The people at the Des Moines sorting facility were helpful, friendly, polite, and deserve the highest praise. I talked to people at the Denver sorting facility too.

I'm in Texas, and I recently received a letter from Alabama to Alabama... no Texas on the envelope anywhere, and not even close to my name.

Hate to say,, but this isn't a table made for jail.. It was a sales demonstration table.. They go along with the clear HPM speakers that Pioneer also made.. This allowed potential customers to be able to see the quality of the table inside and out..

Yeah, if you hatched a plot to sneak that turntable into a prison the guards would see right through it. I actually picked up a clear prison TV at the SA a few years ago for $5.00 and it worked! I wish I knew the story how that TV ended up in a thrift store. :scratch2:

Hey, I have the matching "Jail Receiver" for this TT sitting at home... nice Lucite cabinet Tandberg 2075 MkII.

Never thought about it, but I wonder if the guys up at Chino would pay a premium for something like that? :scratch2:

Clear Head Fish....

to go with the TT. I'll stay with the Garrard 401.

Didn't think it was, just thought it apropos.:thmbsp:
I wonder if anyone has ever put together a complete Lucite system?:scratch2:

This is obvious. I think the OP was just mentioning the jail comparison, because their televisions are required to be see-through. I don't think he really thought the table was designed for prisons. I wonder if they'd even allow a TT and vinyl in the cell?!? If not, it would be pretty hard to smuggle albums in the old fashion way!

Could you imagine the shank you'd be able to make with that tonearm.:yikes:
