James McMurtry - We Can't Make it Here Anymore

[Endzone]

Funny music video. This guy is kind of a hippy protester type.

Listen / watch "Cheney's Toy" by him.

Powerful message! When I hear McMurtry's song it makes me think of the Alan Jackson song "The Little Man".

Not funny. Sad. But true.

Well written and performed. Thanks for sharing -- I'd never heard it. :thmbsp:

Agree, it would be funnier if it wasn't so true. I've been looking for a job for quite a while and DFW is suppossed to be good for jobs.

Check out the title "Too Long in the Wasteland"

Some of his stuff, literally, sends a cold chill down my spine.
It's rare when a songwriter can evoke such realism.

This guy is good, and he's even better live.

Goin to see him next month. If you're lucky enough to live in Austin, TX you can go see him as many nights a week as you'd like. He plays at some bar down there, and he's the house band.

[redcoates7]

He's fantastic live and on record...his regular gig is the midnight show on Wednesday night at the Continental Club on South Congress with Jon Dee Graham. Stay up late, you'll be glad you did

[Wornears]

If you want to hear him live but can't get to Austin by wed night, get his "Live in Aught Three" CD. Always in rotation around here.
