Jamo J-150 'studio monitors'

Satch

Audiotinkerer
Ok, so I picked up this Jamo J-150 'studio monitors' for a song an and a dance. First put them in my small system in a small room. Didn't work out, way too much low end due to the 12" woofers. So I decided to sell the Jamo's. Then I got bored and decided to hook them up to my main system, replacing a pair of ADAM Audio Compact III's. And I have to say.... it looks butt-ugly, but actually sounds pretty good.
I have to say: they are doing a remarkable job on the Pulse dvd from Pink Floyd. Considering the sensitivity of 93 dB and the power rating of my Threshold, I should be able to come close to the actual live sound pressure...

@ comish4: these are Audio Magic Genta stands. Insanely heavy and new very expensive (around 600 euro). Fortunately I picked these up cheaply from our local Craigs list ('Marktplaats').

Strange but I always think of Jamo as a European Company that gets close to the "west Coast" American sound. They have changed hands and now owned by Klipsch. Production has moved to China and I feel like they have since lost their edge. The ones you have are Danish and most of those are very good. I have a few pairs of Jamo's and like their older stuff very much. A great buy as many folks don't know what they are. I think Europes JBL...... Good score! BTW the attention to detail (inside the speakers, will surprise you) very good quality!

My friend has some simular to these and let me tell you they pack a wallup.I agree the older Jamo's are the cat's meow.

I like them a lot! Don't look ugly at all, but almost industrial!
You have a nice set up there.

My Jamo's sound great, dont remember off the top my head what model they are but they have 12 inch woofers. Also what Deeter said, the attention to detail inside the speakers is amazing, great build.

How do the speakers attach to the stands ?

Looks really really nice

My speakerlab das 7's are 94db and they have 1 - 10 and 1 - 12 inch woofer

They probably would reach concert levels with a better amp

Currently powering them with a 70wpc reciever

Your stands are fantastic looking to me

The jamos must bolt to the stands somehow

How do the speakers attach to the stands ?

Gravity ;). I just put them on top...

Thnx for the compliment guys, but I feel my regular ADAM loudspeakers are better, or let me put it this way: they appeal more to my taste. Not just for sound, but also for looks. The Jamo's can be driven insanely loud without breaking a sweat though, and are very well suited for that 'live feeling'. However, since I live in an appartment and like to get along with my neighbours, that's not something I can do on a regular basis.
