JBL 066 tweeter

I recently bought a JBL L212 3 piece system including the Ultrabass unit which surprisingly the Ultrabass works fine. The system is in immaculate condition except one of the 066 tweeters isn't working. I swapped out the drivers and determined the problem is with the 066 driver. I posted on the JBL Heritage forum and the responses show that the replacement kits are no longer available. I even contacted John at Scavenger Sound and although very nice and helpful said the same thing that the only way to find one was to look on ebay or reach out to AK members. Ebay would be my last option because what I have seen regarding the 066 is pretty poor. I am asking for help here on AK to see if anyone might be parting out a 4313B or L166 speaker which uses the same tweeter. Or maybe get lucky and find someone who has one or two (always good to have a spare) and willing to sell for a reasonable price. I know it's a stretch but sometimes you get lucky. If any of you know of another site I might post on it would be appreciated.

As you can see the 066 is is great condition. The little spot left of center is a reflection.

Thanks to anyone who responds in advance.

Have you considered repair? Blown tweeters are frequently repairable

Sorry, I didn't realize the thread would be deleted. First time posting here. As I stated above the diaphragm kits are no longer available so it is beyond repair. I have check with 3 technicians very familiar with vintage JBL components and unanimously stated it cannot be repaired. My only hope is for someone to come to my rescue.

You don't need a diaphragm kit to repair it. If the break in the voice coil is at the end of the coil of wire, you can unwind one revolution of wire and resolder. It's been done many times by AK members.

Thank you, I will look into it.

I wanted to thank both hjames, swechsler and westend for coming to my rescue. I reached out to hjames on another forum. We both have JBL L212 speakers. She directed me here to AK with her 7 page post on her journey getting her L212's from several issues to finally complete. I read all 7 pages and stumbled across where she mentioned JBL Guru John Harding at Scavenger Sound. When I spoke with John he mentioned a diaphragm kit was no longer available for the 066 tweeter. Swechsler replied:

I took it to John at Scavenger Sound in Glen Burnie, while I waited he took it apart very carefully and did his magic. He mentioned that 98% of these are so burned up that they cannot be fixed. I was very lucky and am now listening to my L212's with every driver working as it should.
The best part of my trip was when John invited me to walk from his repair shop right next door to his home where I was treated to seeing his Industrial model Paragon and a beautiful pair of Mahogany Hartsfieds.

WoW! You called last night after I got home from celebratory flight of beers and a meal at Anita (I "passed the Security+ test yesterday - I am "certified" now!!) -
but I could tell how enthused you were! Between getting your unobtainium 066 tweeter fixed (!!) and seeing those glorious speakers,
it must have been a heck of a day for you! And that microphone collection on the industrial Paragon - woah!

Now, for the icing on the cake, we need clean clear pix of your L212s and home system!

OK Heather, here they are! I went kinda overboard I hope you all don't mind. I owned this system in 1981. Owned it 5 or 6 years. Someone offered to buy it for more than I paid for it so I sold it. Have owned several speaker systems over the years always have a soft spot for the L212 because it was so unique both sound wise as well as appearance. The pictures show what wonderful condition the three pieces are in. Everything works as it should including the LED in the Ultrabass. The last picture is from my listening position. My cat enjoys listening to music as much as I do.
