Jbl 075 /077

Hi,

I have been considering a pair of these drivers to extend/improve the HF of my Altec 515b+288-16G system.

The recomendations are to go for the JBL 077 tweeter,as the 075 is not as extended and is harsh/bright with a narrow dispersion angle.

Despite these negatives I find that the 075 tweeters are as expensive as the 077 tweeters.

Is this because the 075 tweeters have collector value?

Consider a 2405 or 2405H

The 2405 is identical to the 077 with three exceptions:

• The paint on the magnet is grey
• The phase plug is metal instead of clear plastic
• It's much less expensive than an 077

The 2405H has a larger ferrous magnet than the AlNiCo used in the 2405. It's even less expensive and sonically identical.

Not at all. You haven't been looking long or hard enough. 077s (especially with intact seals and original blue diaphragms) can cost more than double of an 075 of similar stature.

There is a place in Long Beach that advertizes on C/L that has literally dozens of 075/2402 cores not nada 077/2405s.
