jbl 125a woofer refoam

Hey Folks,
I am going to be refoaming a set of JBL 125a woofers. These woofers have the inverted dust covers. When I refoam, do I have to use the inverted dust covers again?

I contacted JBL and they do not have the parts to refoam, only recone. I don't want to go to that expense for sure.

I'll call around tomorrow and see what I can find, but thought I would ask for others opinions on this first.

You don't need to touch the inverted dust caps to refoam them. I did mine a while back & didn't really know what I was doing, but they came out just fine, & crank when I ask them to.

I've re-foamed several 127 and 128 drivers using kits from Rick Cobb and have never removed or disturbed a dust cap. He knows his JBLs: http://myworld.ebay.com/looneytune2001/

good to know. However, one of my dust caps was damaged and actually removed, so I have to get at least one.

Mark I am currently looking for 4 of them for the 116h's so I will add a few more to the count unless you find them first.
A 15" dustcap does not fit right as the other has the edge rounded over a bit to touch the cone surface for glueing.

It seems as tho they are crazy expensive from JBL like $20 each.:sigh:

Looks like Rick Cobb has them about $4 ea.
