jbl 4311, crossover upgrade kit (ready)

so apart from the crossover, which is quite simple, are there any other key points to be examined /fixed in order to optimize performance from the 4311?
 
Those eBay crossovers get rid of the L pads, which has good and bad aspects. Good because it's more reliable; bad because you lose the adjustments.

The only other basic mod is to stuff the port with a hardware store plumbing plug; that smooths out the bass.

More elaborate mods are the Murphy's or Gravesen crossovers, which are quite elaborate and take away some of the sensitivity and vintage sound.
 
OK i see.
i guess you mean that bass becomes more quick and controlled if you close the cabin right? stuffing the port is a permanent mod or can i remove it if i don't like it?
and i think i'm also gonna get check the drivers condition, foam surrounds etc to be sure that these are closer to specs:music:
 
4311s have linen accordian surrounds that can droop and drool, but are otherwise very durable. Most people clean up the drool as best they can, and rotate the woofers to offset any sag.

The port plugs are 100% reversible. By sealing the ports, they reduce some boominess at around 80 Hz, IIRC.
