Found an ad for

In EXCELLENT condition! 6 pieces: JVC Matrix Surround FM/AM Digital Synthesizer Receiver (2x105 Watts), JVC TD-W204 Dolby Double Cassette Deck, JVC XL-V151 Compact Disk Player, and Kenwood Stereographic 7-Band Equalizer, 2 Oak JBL 4312 Studio Monitor speakers w/stands.

Asking $375 for all, the rest looks like a bunch of BPC? But the JBLs ;) may be worth the price alone...is the a fair price, semi-deal or a bargain?

I would say that's a good deal, maybe you can haggle a little. It looks like a set ended at $380 and one for $450 on the bay. Of course condition is everything. Also if the stands are original JBL slant stands, they bring $100+. If in good shape I say go for it.

Not sure on the stands, other than obvious condition issues like bad drivers although I doubt it based on the ad, is there anything else to know about these? Are there different finishes that are more or less valuable? I am looking to match these with a Yamaha integrated CA-1000/1010/2010 or a Marantz 1060, any idea if they work together well? I like accurate but not sharp or bright nusic reproduction and solid but tight and musical bass.

The only thing that bothers me about vintage speakers is no shielding :(
