JBL 4320 Modded with 077 Tweeter

I am in a peculiar situation where I have some speakers my dad gave me - he modded some 4320's he built in the 70's from a kit with the basic LE15 woofer and LE85 (I think).
Then he added the 077/2405 crystal tweeter to make it three way in the same cabinets, two ports for air, plastic grill for the horn.
But one of the speakers sounds like it's not getting any juice, I've tried swapping cables, channels - everything apart from taking them apart - using a signal generator.
I'm not exactly sure which passive drivers he used, I'm not entirely sure he knows either.
I was thinking of getting into the active crossover realm since the vintage passive crossovers are hard to find, expensive, might not work...I don't know just not sure if that would be the right direction.
Hoping I could get some advice on direction, which active crossovers to look for maybe etc.

Can you tell which driver is not producing the required sound. As the box crossovers get old the fiber washers behind the binding posts break down and crack. Try and see if all the push posts are tight. If the speakers have been played at high levels all their life chances are the diaphragm in the LE 85 is bad. These have a shorter life span with the lower crossover frequency at 500 hz that the LX 5 is. The diaphragm usually cracks around the edge of the dome. The 3110 crossover would be the better match for the shorter horn that is used also.

On the other extreme is a typical 3-way "pro-audio" crossover with a few knobs to twist.

Hint - an obsolete (pre-HDMI usually) 7.1 DD AVR is cheap way to get 6 channels of amplification to experiment with. Just look for the multi-channel DD inputs.
