JBL 4350's and a stack 'O Mac ..Cleveland

I'll have a Big Mac stack and a large order of JBLs.
But not for that price.
Some estate sellers research items and find the highest amount something ever sold for and use that as their starting point.
I avoid those sellers like the plague when I identify them. I'm sure they will take a standing offer though for when the price isn't met.

Yes, any item over a certain amount.

The same Estate liquidators I bought from, and any item $400 or over you were free to bid. They wait until the last day, to sell to the highest bidder.

However, it sounds like the executor of the estate has put a 'reserve' on the Mac Stack. But in the end, it will be sold, to the highest bidder. Only way it does not sell, is if a family member wants it badly enough to convince the executor to sell it to him/her.

And something's funky with the 15s in those 4350s. Those don't look like 2231s or 2235s. It'll set the buyer back well over a grand getting those back to being JBLs.

I agree, but it might not be that bad. It sorta looked like the cone had both a pleated and then foam surround at first, but then the cone would have had to be much smaller diameter wise to make that work. I suspect what happened was the cone was painted on the outer rib circumference with some type of "wet look" type paint and the surround was put on the back. Hard to tell from the pic's angle but it looks like the surrounds are a wide roll instead of the correct Narrow roll for the 2235 (as used in the A version here).

the other possibility was that the cones may have had an incorrect front mounted refoam at one time and they stripped the incorrect foam off the cone. If it took a layer of cone paper off, they might have compensated a bit with the wet look coating to restiffen the cone on the front. Perhaps a reasonable thing to try, otherwise its a full recone. If I was doing it, I would have found a compatible flat grey paint to coat the cones to get them looking correct though.

Actually, $10K for a pair of 4350's isn't completely out of line, but anyone wanting them is in for a bit of difficult haul because of their size and bulk. I missed out on a pair that sold at the Les Paul Auction a year ago, they went for <$5K, and I would have just had to get them home, which actually would have been easy for me. Sigh! Shoulda, woulda.
