Hi guys!it's the first time I write here, but I read this forum often.
I'd like to ask for a advice:i'm listening musica with an Accuphase E-206 and Technics SB-5000 speakers.
A second hand shop is offering me a pair of JBL 4408a Studio Moitor.
I like my Technics SB-5000,but do you think i get an improvement with the jbl 4408a and the accuphase e-206?
The price of the JBL is 250 euro.Is it a good price? Thanks
Regards

I don't know your Technics but I'd look for the the larger 3-way JBL 4410/A which is a much better speaker that would go here for less than you're paying for the 4408 in wherever you are. But then most JBLs are cheaper in the USA than Europe. The 4410 is a three-way monitor and the 4408 is a two-way that will lack a lot of punch and detail. The crossover range is a bit of a stretch for both the tweeter and the mid-range performance. It's a nice speaker but (at least in the USA) you can do much better for that money.

thank you very much for the information!here,in Spain it's impossible to get a pair of JBL for less!
Do you think the jbl 4408A belong to the low class/range of JBL line? or are you saying they're a nice speakers that you don't like?:scratch2:

Thank for your patience!

Pietro, welcome to a new AK international member! Hope you enjoy yourself here.

The 4408 is a decent speaker, but due to its size and 2 way limitations, it can only do so much, purely the physical limitations of its drivers, cabinet size, and design. The 4410 can do much more if that is what you are looking for.

However, given the rarity of JBL speakers in Spain, my suggestion would be to listen to it if possible, and then see if you like them. If so, perhaps you could get it for a little less, say 200 Euros. At that price, or even the 250 Euros, you may not lose much if you decide to resell it.
