JBL 4425- cosmetically challenged

Those are the smaller version of the bigger JBL 4430 way monitors.
I've seen the 4430s sell for $1500 on occasion, so yes, that seems a bit high for a rough pair of the smaller ones.
 
Not sure on value, but the orientation of the woofers is odd as I've only seen the screws at 12:00/3:00/6:00/9:00. These are right at the ports, the weakest point of the baffle.
 
The "new woofer cones" part would give me pause. Did the guy find a place that had actual obsolete C8R2214 cone kits, or are they some "new" aftermarket cones of unknown provenance?
 
Yeah I just talked to the seller and he said the previous owner put about 600 dollars in repairing them. New woofers cones, new voice coils, spiders, new diaphragms for the tweeters. He agreed to sell them to me for 500 plus my fisher 500c but that still seems a bit steep.
 
I'm not sure they'd even sound better than my wharfdale linton 85th anniversary speakers.
