JBL 4430 a question concerning surrounds

I have another thread about possibly getting a pair of 4430 says there mint no issues I asked him when and if the surrounds had been done. He replied not to worry the surrounds accordion style not foam. Dah I have searched the web over and over and see no 4430's with accordion surrounds. Is this guy blowing smoke up my ass? Wants only a grand for the pair should I run Thanks

Not original surrounds most likely and maybe this guy doesn't even know if and when they were redone?As for the price who knows I certainly don't,sorry

I wouldn't bother, $1000 is too much for a speaker with essentially ruined woofers.

Note that he's had those in at least three auctions with no bids and at least one question asking to show the backs of the woofers which the seller insists are 2235s. Seems not too much of a leap to figure they've been re-coned with incorrect kits and likely not even JBL parts.

Spot on, not worth your time unless you can get them real cheap. Just for drill, here'e a pic of on of my 2235's. Good luck with your search, they are worth it when correct.:thmbsp:

Thanks for the feedback he said they were priced for a quick sale he needs the cash but later slipped and said they have been up for sale for almost a year? I am going to pass

I think you are making a wise decision. Sounds like he "bent" the truth to you once so, if past practice indicates future behavior, he will likely "bend" it again.:yes:
