JBL and Pioneer paper cones?

anderslober

Yikes...not again!
Hello forum.......small question.......regarding the cones in JBL L100, 4312's and Pioneer hpm100's..........if they are damaged......can you re-cone these paper cones?

If so, how and who supplies a kit?

Thanks..............

Those are hard. Usually, you have to find an intact cone from a blown speaker (bad voice coil, shifted magnet, etc), and transplant the good cone into the speaker with the bad cone. A lot of work.

But, the short answer is: no, nobody makes those exact cones anymore...

Regards,
Gordon.

Thanks Gordon.............what about rips/tears in the cone...........I have read here on the forum that you could/can glue them together from behind...............?

What if the surrounds are rotted(the surrounds aren't 'foam')......would you re-foam them?
The reason I ask these questions is, I may pull the trigger on a set of these.......I just need to know what i am getting into..............

Check them very carefully. On the audioheritage forum the Mackenzie kit for a JBL 2245H was compared to the genuine article. They got the voice coil diameter and the cone diameter right, but missed in just about every detail such as depth of voice coil.
