JBL compression driver identification

Hi community, greetings to all. My first post in this fantastic forum!

Can you identify this driver? It was pulled out of a totally beaten down 4425. So it should be a 2416H. Does the diaphragm looks original to you? DCR is 3.8 Ohm.

Thanks!

That diaphragm looks OEM legit JBL to me.

The aftermarket 2416 diaphragms generally have Kapton (brown plastic) coil formers. That looks like the correct (Nomex, IIRC) OEM former, with the little fold-tabs onto the edges of the dome all the way around the inside of the former...

Regards,
Gordon.

FWIW...

Around 2002, for use in a band, I bought 3 MR802 (2416 h.f.) floor wedge monitors from a fellow musician. Two of them sounded great, but one of them, the highs sounded 'pinched' for lack of a better word. Upon investigation, I found that the cork portion of the coil former must have been over-driven, or over-heated. There were bubbles in the cork, which caused the former to bind inside the gap that it fits into. New JBL replacements were very expensive... Found that if I used fine grit sandpaper wrapped around a toilet paper roll (no joke!!!) which had the exact diameter to fit inside, I could sand down the bubbles and free up the interference, and I got the pinched one to sound so sweet as it was meant to. I now have two 2416 installed in a set of SR4722 speakers with the bi-radial horn, they sound great. I upgraded two of the MR802 with 2426 drivers and they sound sweet as well.
