JBL L-77 Lancers -- fair price, sound opinions?

Hi all. Have an opportunity to pick up a pair of JBL L-77s. Just wondering what a fair price on them would be -- I can probably get them for ~$175.

I know that the woofer surrounds on these are quite often problematic; are there any particular things that I should be looking for when I'm out there? Is there a fix for these besides the brake fluid one? Are there satisfactory replacements available for the surrounds if I have to replace them? Finally, how do they measure up to other JBL models -- what do they sound similar to?

My first vintage speaker score was a pair of the L-77s that I picked up at the thrift for $19. They were in very good condition and sounded great. I didn't have to do a thing to them.

I think it is the kind of speaker that you really have to 'match' with the right amp.

I've heard they can be refoamed with regular foam surrounds, but it sounds like the kind of surgery best left to someone with experience...
