I thought I would try to smooth out the frequency response, I can use an EQ but it doesnt have to resolution I need , so I used audacity , you can draw any type of frequency response you need, I found the actual frequency response of the speakers on line of course who knows how acurate it is, what was the tolerance of the all the drivers and xover parts when it was new and how much have the drifted over the lats 40 year?? that being said i took some pop songs Im familiar with and made a complementary eq response that should smooth out some of the jbl problems. Im happy to report the sound did much better, of course you cant get silk purse out of a sows ear, if that were the case we would just to buy a cheap $100 pair of speakers and good eq and we would all have a perfect pair of loudspeaer.this will be my last week listening to them one will be used as a bass guitar speaker. the other will be put in storage.
