JBL L100 wood grill size?

During my refurb of this L100 pair, I just received a set of the repro-quadrex foam grill inserts. They are stunningly beautiful but I think there's a problem. When I lay the foam into the wooden grills, there's about a 3/16" gap around the entire perimeter of the foam....basically, the foam is too small for the wood grill in both dimensions.

Did JBL make different sized grills for the various L100 designs? I believe mine to be L100a and I only think that since the serial numbers are numbered "123456 a". ??????

Just measured everything:

The inside lip of the wood grills measure: 13 7/8" x 23 3/16"
The foam outmost edges measure: 13 1/2" x 22 7/8"

Can anyone measure theirs and post what they are?

Thanks,
Mike

Inside lip of the wood grille frames:

13 3/4" x 23"

...not sure if that makes anything any better...

Non-inline drivers here as well. Thanks for measuring your's. Well, since your's are different than mine which are different from what I bought....and without speculating too terribly much....I think it safe to say the act of purchasing foam replacements UNLESS they are custom made to fit an existing measurement is a dice roll. Damnit.

Well, it would seem that your foams would fit my grille frames pretty well...are you sure yours are OEM, not modded? Mine actually might have been modded, there's a cloth grille on them now.

These seem original, have the number 12 (iirc) on them on the rear and had the older than hell black fabric (was torn) stapled and foam-glued in....but I guess anything is possible. Gotta run catch an airplane. Talk later.

The foam should fit tight into the grille frame. There should not be a gap.

Member Indycraft makes AWESOME L100 quad grilles. They fit perfectly and the color of his grilles are unbelievably accurate. He matched the color from genuine JBL samples.

Next time you need L100 quad grilles, get ahold of Indycraft. You will have NO problems. :thmbsp:

L100 Grills

Try contacting the seller with your problem and see if he will make right if it was an error on his part cutting the foam. I'v seen the Indy Craft foam grills and they look like a perfect fit/color and worth every dollar once they are installed on the L100.
