JBL L110 value

Hey guys,

I need a little advice on evaluating a pair of JBL L110 speakers.

Here is a picture of them:

Clearly one of the woofers has been replaced and this is part of why I am having trouble evaluating them. That, and I can't find much information online. Any idea as to what they're worth? Seller is asking $320.

i preferred the L110 to the L100.

If you are buying to flip, it will be hard to get much more than that because of the mismatched cones. To replace the woofer, you are probably looking at $200 shipped to edmonton. That would make this a money losing venture.

Nope not really looking to flip, just want to ensure I can get my money back if and when I do decide to sell them. I've never owned JBL before so this is more of a venture into a sound I've never had the chance to explore.

Do you happen to know what the market value is on a pair that are all original in decent condition? These ones don't look so great based on the pictures, but I'm starting to think $320 is high and that's probably why they've been sitting. I'm thinking of offering a trade deal to see if he'd go for it.
 
pretty hard to calculate the value of mismatched speakers. Even if the woofers are the same model with different coloured cones, the value will always be depressed.

a pair recently sold on ebay for $260 shipped. They were pretty trashed and needed a lot of work to get them going. Based on that, $350 canadian seems reasonable.

I have a pair of L36 which are quite similar to the L110. I would let them go for $350 and they are in good condition.

edit - to the mods, I was not trying to sell my speakers here, just saying what value I would put on them.
 
Pair of L110's here on CL for $200. I went and checked them out over the weekend and they sounds great. Cabs need some TLC. Stupid dust cap pushed in on one mod and one tweet which I thought I read might be an issue with the tweeter.
 
I paid 400 for my jbl 110's and was happy to do so. But they were already recapped and in good shape cosmetically. They are a great speaker but having the correct drivers/healthy function drivers is crucial. If you want these, may I suggest you price out the correct drivers you need to make the whole/original and adjust your offer accordingly.
 
The "mismatched" woofer appears to be a recone of the proper driver, so two choices--either find a used white woofer and sell the reconed one to recoup some $$$, or pay to have the white one reconed with the black cone. Unless someone has some old stock lying around, all of the recones that I have seen in recent years are all black--they are correct in terms of performance, just not the original signature color.
 
The replaced driver is not correct, recones don't turn the frame silver, it appears to be a LE10H-1 from an L-96.

First are they L-110 or L-110A? Serial number followed by a stamped A. Do they have grills?


L-110 LE 111A alnico magnet
L-110A LE 111H ferrite (ceramic) magnet

I wondered about that frame. Actually if I am not mistaken the cones on original were not white on this model.
What do the cabs look like? As previously asked are there grills?
The other drivers look right as best I can tell, 033 tweets and LE5-? for mids.

Bringing this thread back up because I am most likely going to pick these up.

I don't know which woofer is the white one exactly, but it being an LE10H-1 makes the most sense. These are the L110 and not the L110A.

If and when I do get them, I'll put up some of my own pictures and pull the white coned driver out to see which one it is. Then it will be a matter of, do I find another LE10H-1 or an LE111A? The LE10H-1 is an improper fit (although, close) for the original L110 crossover so I probably won't go that way. And then, I wonder if I should bypass the electrolytics on the crossover as it has been done on the L110A, and also update the midrange filter.
