I think seller was very fortunate to find a buyer @ 270.00...Fun project none the less. I prefer the 250ti for 500.00 in chicago that are ready to rock!

Thanks, I agree. Considering that the woofers are in good shape, same with the radiators and that the rest of the drivers are all easily repaired, I think I did pretty well. Also the speaker I have photographed is the worse of the two. The other one won't require as much work to the cabinet, just patching minor stuff.

Does anyone have an opinion of whether I should just reveneer both speakers entirely or try to patch them with new veneer? I almost feel like it would be easier to just use entirely new veneer and it would look better but cost more.

The 250ti's definitely sound like a better deal but sadly that's way too far away from me. Even though the cabinets on these are in really rough shape, they still sound very good so I don't think it was too bad of a deal.
 
Agreed. Just fix veneer unless your a skilled woodworker getting veneer to look like factory install isnt easy....
 
Is that the exact same tweeter? The replacement diaphragm came today but I had trouble installing it.

I'll upload some photos in a bit. Unfortunately I broke the replacement diaphragm when I was trying to install it and dislodged it's voice coil from the diaphragm. I just ordered a new pair to try it one last time. I have to drill new holes in the replacement part because the screws don't fit. Im hoping that it will work once I actually install it but I'm a bit skeptical because the fit seemed a little off.

The new problem I have is that the good tweeter doesn't work on one speaker. I replaced most of the caps on the crossover in that speaker, still need to order a few more parts to finish it up. I think it's the L pads though, they're in really rough shape. I already received replacements for them. I just have to take off the l pads and figure out how hard it is to replace them...

I'm listening to the speakers now with a cheap class D chip amp, and I'm just blown away by how good the bass is. It's a bit over powering at times but I could adjust it by taking some of the weights off the passive radiators.
