Jbl L166 Horizons midrange

Hello everyone so I've had the speakers since Christmas of last year they were gifted to me by my future father-in-law but somewhere along the way the mid range stopped working, now I don't know when it happened and during this period.I purchased some 128H woofers to put in these JBL speakers, there were some JBL loud series woofers in them when I received them. Now the reason I put 128H's in his I saw a post where someone said they had put these woofers in there and they actually heard an improvement on the higher end of the bass frequency range. And I also came to notice in the schematics for the JBL L166 is it says that if you do not have the 122 A's at your disposal you can use a 128g and still keep a similar sound signature. But anyways, somewhere along the way the mid range stopped working in my left channel because I get up real close to the speaker and make sure all components are working. I know for a fact about two weeks after I put the woofers in the mid range does not work . since I've noticed I have cleaned the L pads taking the cover of making sure everything looks good and it does and there's corrosion around the resistors and one resistor is cracked but I checked with the multimeter and everything still checks out. and then on eBay I purchased a new set of crossovers and installed them after I cleaned them and they look better than my original set, and still the midrange does not work. I've also purchased a new to me LE 5–8 (before the cross over)and I've checked that with the multimeter and it works. I really wish to bring back the full potential of my speakers and I feel I'm not getting the whole picture and I want to do these things justice. Any help is well appreciated, I'm just looking for ideas anything I can do.thanks,

I am sort of confused by your post. What problems are you still having?

You said that you noticed cracked and corroded resistors, but got new crossovers, so that problem is fixed, right?

You said that one mid-range stopped working, but you bought a replacement LE5-8, so that problem is fixed, right?

What problem are you still having or what did I misread?

128H is a great woofer (same woofer as in my L150 speakers and 4412 Studio Monitors), I'd be inclined to try them in the L166 also if I had those speakers.

So the problem I'm having is my mid range does not work. I've done the things listed above in efforts to fix my midrange yet it still remains quiet. I originally thought the mid range could be broken because of the cracked resistor or the corrosion.and the mid range that was originally in this speaker had a hole in it but still read at 6 ohms. But then I replaced it with a new to me le5-8 that read 8 but no hole in the cone.

And thank you about the 128s I've got nothing but scrutiny since I replaced the woofers=). And they sound fantastic as well lol

You could try hooking the speaker wire from your amp directly to each of the LE5-8 drivers, and listen at low volume simply for testing purposes. That will give you a better idea of their actual functionality. If you find one that works, but it doesn't work once you put it into the cabinet, then it has to be the crossover as that is all that is in the signal path. You have 4 crossovers now, including your two older and two new crossovers, right? You should be able to select the two best working crossovers out of that lot of 4.
