JBL L26 vs Advent Legacy

Hi! Studio guy here. New to the “hifi” speaker game. Have mixed music professionally on a variety of speakers. I’m LA/Inland Empire based.

Picked up a mint pair of Advent Legacy for my brother. I loved em so much I wanted to get myself another pair. Found one in good shape - just needs to surrounds - for $170.

But I also have a pair of decent looking JBL L26 on my radar for $300. Heard a restored pair in a wine bar once and was impressed but don’t remember the details.

What would you choose? East coast vs west coast. These would be my daily drivers for a couple years at least (not for mixing, just for enjoyment in my living room).

I know you can pick these up at random thrift store for $5 if you’re lucky sometimes - but I’m not lucky like that.

… also JBL doesn’t have frequency response published for the L26… hoping it could be used without a sub. I’m happy with the legacy’s with a slight bass boost and no sub until I get my room treated.

Sealed box vs. ported

I'd buy them both, stack vertically (won't take up any more room) connect one to speaker A and one to speaker B. Keep in mind I'm a bit of a gear whore

It used to be that way 10-15yrs ago but the word is out on vintage speakers especially at the thrift stores as they now know how much these are worth.

The prices you mentioned for the market (LA/Inland Empire) you're in don't seem too unreasonable.

Seeing as you've heard the JBL's and liked them I would go in that direction.

What amplification would you be using for whichever you choose
