JBL L3 Surprise!

Such an interesting find! I’m refurbishing these JBL L3 speakers, and I was pulling the rubber grille grommets. Behind one on each cabinet, I found a serial number sticker that matched the serial number sticker on the back. It was just sitting behind the grommet in the hole, like a fortune inside a fortune cookie!

When I first got a used Infinity IL120s subwoofer for some reason (probobaly because I like seeing what makes something tick) decided to remove the trim plate and then the woofer.
Same as the OP, there were rubber grommets holding the grille on, and in one of those grommets I found a piece of paper with the serial number printed on it.

Great speakers. They need to be fed, they need to be carefully positioned. If you can do that, they are wonderful. The L1 and L5s we're my favorites of the line. However, The L60s of the previous generation were a favorites and the next generation L3s were even more refined. The L7s were fantastic given proper amplification...it took a lot.
