Jbl le 25 tweeter replacement

Can't you buy used ones for way way less? That's a lot of money -- obviously it might be worth it to you, but it seems to me that some of the speakers that use that tweeter can be bought complete for less than a pair of those new tweeters.
 
I have been looking for a few weeks and used repalcements are going for about the same, and any set of speakers I have found have been more expensive before and way more after shipping. All the used ones have pushed in cones or the foam ring is missing, deteriorated, ears broke, or not working. I wonder if anyone can repair the ones I have?
 
It runs in random cycles on ebay. In a week or so there will probably be three or four for sale.

I was surprised to find out, not only that the LE25 should not be discarded in favour of after-market alternatives but that it is totally repairable. The entire mechanism (diaphragm cone, dome cap, voice coil, foam rings, etc..) is JBL stock and costs around $96.

All in all a $125 fix (depends on the work that goes in). BTW: This week, the knock-off version on flea bay costs around $76 not including shipping. Even it's ad pictures reveal a low quality design in comparison with the original and it does not look as massive and robust. I bet it doesn't sound the same too.

where is said JBL lab? contact info? I have a tweeter that needs attention...

Mine is in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The best one in the country but it's not listed in the JBL site. Yours should be not too far (I hope) from Ontario maybe even in town. You're probably luckier than me and you can check the JBL site for parts and here for service. If you can't locate it - just open your local yellow pages and call the first 3 speaker labs. One is bound to point you in the right direction. Hope you don't have too travel too far...

I tried finding a speaker repair place to look at my L-50s some time ago but never found a local one. For the tweeter, shipping is an option - so I'll see what the JBL site can turn up for me.
I ended up fixing the L50 myself... turns out speaker repair really isn't such a mystery! ;)
 
Hi, i got the same Problem: i build up a set for my 5 year old daughter. I gave her my old jbl decade l26. They sound pretty nice and its perfect for the Childrensroom. So now, a tweeter fu..ed up i cant find a repair Kit. I do t want to throw it away. Prices on ebay suck. In Addition with shipping way too much. Any ideas to help me out?
