JBL mystery speaker

Can any one please help me to identify the speaker?
It is Jbl speaker. The front and the back of the speaker look like JBL L101 but not the grille and the cabinet. The grille can be slide down to get to the front speaker.

The JBL L101 doesn't do that. It does have marble on the top.

Build quality far too low for a factory cabinet. The open edge plywood voids below the woofer scream it.

Also, almost looks like they used exterior grade plywood rather than furniture grade. Take a look at the rear picture.

But it's only 3 layers. That's not your run of the mill 3/4" ply. That's an old school higher end plywood. Hardwood core iirc, with a heavy veneer too. Could be very very good cabinet material. Does it ring when you knock on it?

My take is that if not a small factory, it was a custom somewhat pro build. Good attention to detail, but some unusual choices. I like the drop out grills.

C56 is another model that comes to mind. Looks like someone bought the driver/crossover load and crafted thier own cabinets.

Have you tried some Deoxit?

Replaced lpad and it sounds abi different from the other side. The new lpad lost hi-end just a little bit.

And the high-end loss is at full adjustment or in the middle?
