JBL Recone reccomendation wanted

I found a pair of JBL Century L100s at the Salvation Army recently. They're in pretty rough shape, but the woofers both seem to be good and they were only $10 each However, the cones on the LE25 tweeters and LE5-2 mids are torn up. I've done some searching, and it appears that JBL still sells recone kits for these drivers. Does anyone have a reccomendation for where to send the drivers to get them reconed? Price is a consideration, but mainly I'm looking for someplace that does good work and is reliable.

I'd advise looking for good used tweeters, but reconing the midranges. The kits for these tweeters are stupidly expensive, and are ONLY available from JBL (nobody makes an aftermarket replacement kit for these tweeters).

Any of the following tweeters will work, as long as you get them in pairs of the same model:

LE25, LE25-1, LE25-2, LE25-3, LE25-4, LE25-6

They have minor cosmetic differences, but all are bolt-in, drop-in fits and will sound pretty much IDENTICAL.

As for mids... these LE5-2s have issues with voice coil glue failure, which leads to buzzing and/or dead driver issues. IMHO, ALL LE5-2s should be reconed. If they haven't been, they will NEED TO be, at some point...

Unfortunately, there seems to be a shortage of the proper voice coil, to do the "aftermarket" recone of these, now. I'm looking for a suitable replacement coil. Hope to find it soon, as it's definitely a very cost-effective alternative to the factory kits (factory kit is like $150 or so; aftermarket recone is only $65, including parts AND labor, each). And IME, the aftermarket recones sound and look pretty much identical to the original kits... if anything, IMHO, the aftermarket kits sound BETTER (less midrange harshness)...

Thanks, guys. I'm located outside Chicago, but I don't mind shipping the drivers if that'll get me a better end result.

I'll start checking fleabay for the tweeters.

Gordon, how can I find out when you've nailed down your source for aftermarket recone kits for the mids? Will this info be on your website, or can you send me a PM on AG?

LE25's are plentiful on the bay. I don't know why 104H mids would'nt work in those cabs too. There's a good looking pair of LE5-5 with no bids ending in 5.75 hrs from now
