JBL restortation

brandon090

Vintage is my,way of life
I know $100 for JBL's isnt a good deal. But i am going to need to refinish them, and what would be the best way to go achieve that? Im also looking to replace the grills with the IMO better looking $125 grills. But are their cheaper ones like that?

$100 for L100s isn't a good deal?
You must be new!
Run to get those, even if you don't like them and they need to be restored you could easily double your money.

Well, I would only pay $100 for L100s to flip them.. Or maybe build something with the woofer if they were messed up. I'm a hater though. Make sure they have the correct drivers in them before you shell out the money. Nobody makes cheap L100 grills, but you could make more normal grills for them if you wanted.

If they are in pretty descent condition you can't go wrong for 100 bucks. And like was mentioned allready, make sure they have the original drivers !!

even when the grill foams are shot, if they at least have the grill frames, you can use cheap grill cloth instead of the foam.

either way, $100 for a pair of L100 is a deal.

. . . either way, $100 for a pair of L100 is a deal.
Well, only if you like the sound. Flipping a ratty pair won't bring you much profit at that buy-in.

Liking the sound . . . isn't that really the most important part? Experimenting is cool, too. And $100 to experience an icon for yourself is cheap tuition.

Photos would help - $100 for L-100 is a hell of a deal. Making them look good is the easy part -

Thanks, ive been talking to the guy for a few days since he works during the day, etc. He said one of the drivers tore so he glued it and he said i wont be able to hear a difference. If i ever did have a problem ill have Judy fix them. Any products you guys recommend to use after i sand them down? Thanks

Buy em' fix em' up, flip em' for 4 bills and get a set of nice JBLs like 4313bs, L100ts, 4410s, etc. That's my advice after spending a couple of years on the JBL road. :)

Speakers (all brands) are an acquired taste. Buy the L100s, listen, learn and make your own decisions. You will always be able to capture $101 for a pair of L100. Furthur.

Some pics of the JBL 100's, still a deal for $100. Big wood gash on the left speaker, and right woofer has damage, but has been fixed.

Check out most all the JBL models with a "b" at the tail end of the model #....Our friend Barredowl can attest too these :thmbsp:

You are fixing them up, dude! They look great so far, are they in a condition to listen to yet?

Yes they are, a good friend of mine told me ill need to change out the right woofer and both tweeters. But now it seems like the terminal broke on the right mid range, so ill have to change that out to. Ill take your 4313 when your not looking:music:

The tweeters look fine to me, just get new foam or felt rings for them.
The right woofer should be replaced for sure, the integrity of the cone is probably not kept with that repair, and you want the cone to be as light and stiff as possible because it plays so much of the midrange.
