JBL S38

Prior to me making an account on Audiokarma, I stumbled upon a deal for a pair of S38s.

Using the positive reviews on the site about the S38s, I made the purchase. I can honestly say that for $120, there are zero regrets. I've had them for around a year now, on all my amps and made custom stands for them along the way. I've currently got them hooked to a NAD 2200 and love the sound.

Is there anyone else out there still enjoying these speakers?

If you have moved on, what did you replace them with?

Welcome to AK!

The S-38 is a great speaker. Have had a pair in the family for at least 10 years now. Have the center channel speaker from that series doing duty in the family room.

The 38's are currently at my mother in laws house.

These flew under the radar for a while but not so much anymore.

I can say that all of the AK glowing reviews of them make them not to difficult not to purchase at most prices.

I listen to them daily, and can find things to complain about, but all of the problems disappear when you give them the power. The lack of coloration at excessively high volumes makes all the other complaints about them trivial. They were on the GFA-555 before I got the NAD repaired and the bass was quite impressive for an 8" bookshelf.

I've known about them for years, starting back when the lawsuit hit them. Read lots of discussions about them, too.
And then a pair showed up about 2-miles from my home and . . . well, here's the rest of the story.
