New kid in town
Just brought home these heavy dudes. I dont think they are very pretty. Plastic is plastic...
When these showed up at the local CL as a give away I moved fast. I ended paying 100 dollars.
The devorced woman said she had some people bidding. It was a 4 hour drive but as a curious soul I just had to find out if these semi active JBL's are any good. And yes I think they sound very good.

Im using NAD218/C165BEE combo , Tara Labs ic's and speaker cable, copper.
6-7 hours of spotify streaming various music left me with these main impressions:
First of all very good midrange, female and male vocals stands out well defined and natural. The sound of the 'S' is natural and good. Nils Lofgren Live Acoustic sounds great. The solo on 'black books' just amazing. Acoustic piano also good. Adele sounds great as she should.
Maybe a bit rolled off in the highs, but smooth and detailed.
Bass extention is good, loud 30 hz sine wave no problem. At 25-24 hz port noise starting to be audible.
Not much music down there anyway. Could not make them play boomy bass in any music I found this far. Bass is tight.
I think this a speaker that is non-fatiguing for long time listening.
I A-B test with my reference, Klipsch RF-83
Had to adjust volume up/down as S412P is 91 dB and RF83 100 dB, quite a big difference. I got a feeling S412P need some wattage to bloom regardless of the built in LF amp.
RF-83 has more open and bigger soundstage.
+More razor sharp and detailed highs.
I might like female vocals better on the JBL. Time will show.
Its a damn good speaker the S412P. I'll listen some more
