The cabinets don't appear to be "hallmark" JBL, in design, and drivers can be inserted readily if the geometry will accomodate. Purists would challenge the JBL title :deal:, based on the cabinet, crossover, and complete driver compliment.

I think there was an earlier post regarding a Cerwin Vega design.. based on the label. Sometimes many of these so-called "branded" multi-driver cabinets are actually hybrids, by mistake or purpose :(.
 
The woofer reminds me of something I’ve seen in a JBL PA cab. The reddish dust cap and accordion surround.
 
I asked the seller what the model number is on the speakers, and he says 2360. But I know they aren’t JBL 2360. So what brand are they?
 
its missing this....Same rounded corners in crossover cutout.... Cabinets are 110% JBL as stated L77 speakers with correct passive but another 12" JBL woofer installed in place of original.

If that's the case, then somebody did a mighty tricky job of replacing the baffle.

Seems like a hell of a lot of work just to arrive at those for an end result.

I agree that they share the L77 dimensions. But, i don't think the baffles have been replaced or altered, i think they left the factory like that.

They strike me as something JBL might have built in house for another company to market under their own name/brand.

No, the tweeter isn't in the L77 location, and the passive has been shoved tight to the corner.

You'd have to do a lot more to an L77 baffle to end up with that configuration. In L77 the tweeter is centered in the long dimension. In the OP speaker the tweeter is well offset from center of the long dimension.
 
The pair in the eBay listing are exactly the same as the ones in the CL posting. Not the same exact pair of speakers, but the same layout. And the eBay speakers have “Model 2360” on the terminal plate.
So it doesn’t seem like this is some hack job.

I agree that these look like something JBL might have made for someone else.
 
I googled “model 2360 speaker” and one of the google image hits was that eBay listing. That seems to be the only other trace of these speakers. Maybe if we could find out the house brand of the speaker we could get more info.

There was another thread recently that mentioned one of the house brands that built speaker systems using jbl components. But, i don't think these are quite the same thing.

These strike me as coming right out of the JBL factory using cut stock already on hand, and making the only custom cabinet parts the baffle and grill.

I think nolasally is spot on with the L77 likeness, and the cabinets are dimensionally the same, made from the same cuts
 
I agree with the L77 likeness. I’m a JBL noob, and don’t recognize similar models right away. Hell I didn’t even know the mid was really a woofer, and the woofer was a PR until I saw the pics on the eBay ad :)

Actually, it's the other way around.

The 12 inch 123 type driver is the active woofer and that 10 inch frame with the truncated rim is the passive.

It would be interesting to do a side by side comparison between these and L88's as the active components are the same with the only real difference being a ported alignment vs passive radiator.

Whoops. I’m used to the PR being bigger than, or the same size as the woofer. It’s hard to tell which driver is which from the inside shots, and you know what happens when you assume. :)

Looking at the pics now I see the VC tinsel wires on the front of the 12” woofer
