I haven't been around AudioKarma for a while since I finished the restoration of these Marantz Imperial 1s (which I listen to daily and LOVE).
I wasn't in the market for new speakers, nor was I necessarily "looking" for a new project, but last night, my wife and I were walking the dog when we passed this pair of JBL Studio Master L200s sitting on the curb with a "Free!" sign on them. Thankfully, I got to them before the dog lifted his leg!
They are in pretty rough shape, but the drivers appear to be in good condition. I haven't even hooked them up yet, so who knows how they sound.
I'm inclined to take these on as a restoration project since I had so much fun restoring the Imperial 1s. I figured these speakers deserved another shot at glory, and who would give them that shot if not me? They'll never look or sound new, of course, but I'm hoping I can return them to decent enough condition that someone might want them. Otherwise, maybe they'll be my garage speakers.
Does anyone have a line on a manual, schematic, parts list, etc., for these bad boys? They seemed to be much more mainstream than the Imperials, so I hope some resources are available. Also, the fins over the horn tweeters are missing. Does that matter? Any chance of finding replacements?
As always, thanks in advance to the AK community. I'm sure this will be a fun project!
