Hey everyone,

I am assuming this is the right place for this, just let me know if I'm mistaken... I'm trying to help someone out and get them a better idea of what they have...

Just trying to get a better idea of the value/ desirability for s set of JBL Type C50 | OLYMPUS speakers is. I have been told this is the stock option you could choose when purchasing but I am not totally clear on that part either. The Lansing heritage site is a little sparse unless I am going to the wrong one...

Just an idea of value, desirability, and where they kinda fall in the hierarchy of JBL would greatly be appreciated!

The pics are as is in current condition, I do know they work and produce sound but a quality of sound check wasn't really possible at the time... also I know the grills seem to be pretty desirable for these and I have zero idea if they are available or not... but take a look at the pics and let me know!

Thanks so much for your time!

JP

Well, the moment folks start discussing value, it's a D&S thread. Without doing so, let's just say that folks would be tripping over themselves in an effort to purchase these speakers if they were available reasonably.

I've personally never heard a pair but I think they'd be fun to play with!

I have these speakers set up exactly like this except I have added a Super tweeter to each cabinet.
The surrounds on the woofers will probably be pretty stiff and need to be replaced.
The LE 85 horn is a very nice sounding part of the setup.
I currently have my C 50s tri-amped using an active Ashley crossover.
They are a VERY good sounding speaker.
If you do have the wood lace front grills, they are desirable and very delicate.
They are rare to find in good condition.
I have seen these advertised in various condition for outrageous amounts of money, however they are a large speaker that most don't have room for so.... it can be a tough sell. Shipping is not normally economical.
I will never sell mine, and hope you get a chance to hear these in their glory after refoaming and possible recap of the crossovers. You will probably think twice about selling.:thmbsp:

I would peg them to being around 2500 or so on a normal local market. On eBay or another venue you could add some more (3/500) but fees and everything else can eat that additional profit up.

If it was an SR-8 load with the higher end drivers (375,077) then yeah it can add about double the cost. A pair locally with an SR8 load sat on CL for months at an asking price of 5K. Just depends on what the market will bare.

Is there a way to find out the specific drivers so I know what I have...? Or just a stock set I should go by...

Drivers can be removed from cabinet to get a pic of the back. Some are marked as to which they are. If the back of the cabinet can open, you could take a peak that way.
