JBL Venue Stage Speakers - Any Good?

I just saw that Frys have JBL Venue Stage speakers for $69.00 each.

As I mentioned in another thread my Sony SSU 6030's have a tear in the foam.

Does anyone know the JBL's and if they are good value for money and better than my old Sony's?

They would be an entry level JBL speaker, not the quality worth time spent. This is not to say they are bad, it's just that they are not the same as the vintage speakers often discussed here. It sounds like you are ready for a new set of speakers instead of fixing your Sony speakers. Vintage speakers are often the best value for dollar spent. Check local flea markets, thrift stores and garage sales. You will be surprised what you can come up with. Chances are good though that you will have to do a refoam anyway.
 
Yeah, but $69 each and no work ain't a bad deal.

But yes, with time, luck, and usually some work, you can do better.
