JBL wooden speaker stands - dimensions?

I have seen some wooden JBL speaker stands. They may be described as a "lincoln log" design because there are only four pieces of wood and they secure through only two notches (see figure below). They are enough to elevate the speakers off the floor with a slight tilt upwards.

If any one owns these could you kindly send me the basic measurements. They went on eBAY for $115. I love JBL as much as the next gear head but....

I think the design may be simple enough for even me to build. Four pieces of wood and two well placed notches on each. $115??? Am I missing something?

Best Wishes All

One of our outstanding members actually traced them and sent me the papers a couple of years ago -- I'll see if I can dig them up for you.

I entered those dimentions into CAD and the 9 7/16" makes the notches cut into the rads at either end of the side rails. I used 9 1/4" and that fixed it.

FYI.

Thanks for the update. Can you burn the JBL logo too ;-) It would be a nice touch.

Hehehee... I DO have access to both a wire EDM machine and a sink EDM machine. I could cut and burn the logo and make a head to burn the wood with.

Hmm... now you have me thinking...

thefragger, I would love to see the end product if you know how to do it. I am actully up in TO for a meeting this Monday. Do you know of any good vinatge stereo stores in the area. Someone who can do the necessary repairs or upgrades to my Yamaha amps or JBLs?

Hey DK, I'm sorry, but I don't know of anyone in Toronto that does that sort of thing-- being a student pretty much limits me to doing all my own repairs / mods. I do know that there are a few other Torontonians on here a bit more seasoned than I that might be able to give you a hand, though.

Philip.

I've seen a couple auctions for these lately and they always seem to bring good money. I think part of it has to do with the burned in JBL logo.

Figure there's money in reproductions? I'd be making a set for my own enjoyment, but if anyone here wants a set with the burned-in logo, I might be able to figure something out... or would JBL be mad at me?

... I just have to make the JBL element first and see how it measures up.

That is tricky. I suppose for "personal use" or your own "fun" there is no problem. But, to actually sell the speaker stands with the JBL logo as a business activity, without their permission, would be asking for trouble. But, I am in if you are practicing your student skills ;)

I'll be in TO tomarrow. I have to leave St. Kitts at 7 am on the train.
