Jensen ID Pls

These followed me home for about the price of a designer cup of coffee. Dont know much about Jensen as far as models and specs go, so here I am.

Heavy little buggers with 8 in woofers and I would guess about 3 in tweeters, though I cant get the furry grill off to know for sure (Im afraid of ruining it forever and ever). I did pop a woofer out and saw a nice crossover and held a mirror in the cab so I could see the back of the tweeter, which isnt at all what I expected. The back sort of reminds me of the breather cap on a hydraulic tank. Saw 1974 written in there too.

Anyway, some corners are a little knocked and some of the vinyl is starting to peel..the refoam parts obvious I guess.

Wonder if I should be glad to have these.

I'm almost certain they are Jensen Model 2. I have the cabinets for a pair of Model 3s, which are also 2 way. They look just like mine, except Model 3s have 10" instead of 8", and the grill is a different color.
Model 1 was a single speaker.

I just searched for Jensen Model 2 on google images, and found this tiny picture.

They were also offered with black grills.

I'd rate those as a nice score indeed. They're Jensen 2s all right. I have a pair of their walnut veneer cousins, the Jensen 17s. They're not the last word in detail, but they deliver a nicely balanced sound with a convincing soundstage. They're very listenable speakers that are not at all fatiguing. Mine sound *much* better with the grilles off, so I recommend that you try yours that way as well after you re-foam the woofers.

Thanks yall, I saw the black grill models in images and rejected by virtue of coloration.
Theres alot of yellow fluffy on the outside of the tweeter control, so Ill assume theres as much inside.., and a recap, plus the refoam. They sound like they may be a nice match for the KLH 35 thats here looking lonely with no speakers to go with.
Im glad to hear they also came in veneer, because thats what I was thinking was going to happen to them once I was sure all the important stuff panned out. one more nice little winter/slow season project.

I bought and refoamed a pair of model 20 jensens and was surprised at how well I like their sound. They are an 8" 2 way sealed design but newer than yours and no tweeter control.
