Jitterbug-It Works

Some DACs that stick very closely to the USB standard have a hard time with some devices that dont stick to the USB standard.

I used a JB into the port before the USB PS and the sound was really good. I then added the new iFI iUSB 3.0 to the JB and it is absolutely off the chain. Sound Quality is like 3 notches than before.
 
There is a very nice review/comparison by Michael Lavorgna in this month's Stereophile (November 2015) of the AudioQuest Jitterbug, Schiit Audio Wyrd, and UpTone Audio USB Regen. His conclusion was: "I recommend UpTone's USB Regen as the performance choice, and AudioQuest's Jitterbug as the budget choice. If your big rig is very resolving and subtle improvements grab your attention, I recommend the Regen-Jitterbug combo for a more bewitching experience." Happy listening.

I've got a HiFime DIY DAC that works 100% of the time. I'm plugging mine into a USB 3.0 port on a Win10 laptop. Perhaps that makes a difference.
 
Joe, yeah...

I have no problems on my new win10 laptop (USB 3)

I should have made it clear I was originally speaking about an older desktop (USB 2) with win10

Maybe a Jedi Mind Trick... However, I left the JB as described ^ above but added another into the Oppo's wifi base then plugged wifi adapter into JB

Made a positive difference
 
So doubling the JB on the computer makes a difference (which all the reviews I've read so far agree with)? While a second JB isn't going to break the bank how would you rate the value of the difference given the cost involved for a second JB?

Hello Ishmael,

As I've purchased 4 of them, and would say that having three of them in the system with two connected onto my Mac Mini and the third connected directly onto the rear of an UpTone Audio Regen which is then connected to the iFi iDSD DAC I'm quite taken with the sonic merit of said devices, and would in fact think that at least two should be installed on ones computer as to my ears it brings about an extra sense of clarity as if the notes themselves have gained more flow and less restrained.

But all things being equal, some might believe otherwise, but only you can tell if it proves effective in your system, using your ears, and knowing that they can be just as easily refunded, I'd say you owe it to yourself to know what's what.
 
For the price I think I will give it a try Kt77, but it will have to wait as we are awaiting the return of our fully restored Sherwood S-7910 receiver and when it comes back our Sansui 8080 receiver will be next up for a full restoration. These are both end of the merry go round components.

Hello Ishmael,

As they should be......., as I'm myself one of those types whom prefers to put a system into place where each component matches the ones around them, and simply tweak|voice the system on a whole to the best of my abilities and enjoy them for the long haul until something breaks and is beyond repair.

As chasing slight differences in components can in fact become a never ending quest in the pursuit of a mere illusion, where I'd say if one system is emotional enough to bring tears to your eyes and rendered the music correctly.........., then it's doing its job, Hi-Fi effects | noises | sounds have very little if anything to do with the purity that is music itself.

And in my mind it's the final destination as opposed to the constant pursuit is where one shows maturity, as it illustrates one knows exactly what they want sonically..........., and that's growth if I've ever seen it.

In that sense..........., you understand the whole concept behind selecting said wares wisely..........., and more importantly, how to enjoy them.

Onwards and Outwards I say, and love " your sound " without regrets and second guessing what if?.
 
Yes, you listen until you hear what gives you joy, or, which often fits under what we call the 90% rule. We love our main speakers, Tannoy Turnberry 75th Anniversary, but once we got to hear the Tannoy Westminster, uber speaker. Big, big speakers with a wonderful sound, and in some respects new things were heard, details, dynamics, but when all was said and done when we came home we marveled that our speakers at about 1/10th the expense sounded well into the 90th percentile of what we heard from the Westminster. But then a speaker is never alone and our system has been a work in progress of over 15 years which now can provide those moments where we turn on our Original Lava Lamp, and find a couple hours later we have wandered through the music of our history, maybe even danced, and no that's not just 90%, that's priceless.

Much respect to the fact that you all have taken 15 years to allow your system to evolve to the point where it obviously brings both of you a great deal of pleasure............, and as we all should have those more expensive reference points in certain brands over others, it's knowing what one has accomplished within their means, yet still allows for confronts in live like an actual roof over ones head and fresh water, while I far from envy that 1-2% of those of wealth, as they'd provide means for many to get the proper college education while still getting a tax write off, most appear to be to caught up in what I often term " Meisum " to much to care about others beyond their gated mansions.

But not to my surprise in all of my travels, it has often been these same types with systems approaching say $500.000 whom merely make their purchased based upon recommended components without even hearing them, or even worst understanding the importance of synergy, so much like you.............., I sit there pretending to be astonished while all alone knowing something sounds off key, but just don't have the heart to say anything..........., but inside.............., I'm patting myself on the back for knowing that a fairly decent system like mine ( $17.000 + ) which has been chosen very carefully with an emphasis on how well each piece matches the others around it, brings me even more joy then in most cases what I'd say has been a waste of ones effort and funds, and then it strikes me................, and then I break into my horrible laughter like the Riddlier from the olde Batman series with Adam West......., you know that crazy laugh, and know deep within, I got it right by trusting my instincts to guide me through it all.

And in truth............, that's where it becomes " priceless ", some get it.........., while some shall forever be seeking said illusion of the truth not knowing it's far easier to obtain then one thinks.

When I first joined this Website of Forums I was confronted with the task of "Naming" e.g. what is your alias for this website, how shall you be called, and the opening of Moby Dick came to mind "Call me Ishmael...", so "Ishmael" it was, so a literary as opposed to ethnic or theological reason lurks behind the name, but the rest of the opening that follows in Moby Dick reveals the depth of the call to such a naming:

Though sailing and shipping is quite an industry in Puget Sound, I take to my road bike for a couple hours each day, freezing and snow retires me to the garage bike trainer, but as above it takes a great deal of the edge off, the toxic stress of the wired world we live in, and restores the passage of weather, light, seasons, and reminds us of our nature.

It is the difference if you like between a great evening of listening at home, versus, an evening of live music at the Highway 99 Blues Club, and a couple dances thrown in too, or, any venue where live music, rock, classical, jazz, is played, it too knocks off the edge.
