Very enjoyable interview with Joe Cocker by German public TV ZDF. The interviewer seems like a bit of a dork, but Joe is fantastic as usual.

Thanks for the link... I saw Joe Cocker live once.... decades ago... Fantastic show.

I'm a big fan of his '70's output. A lot of Dr. Dre fans out there don't realize that they sampled the beat on "California Love" from an old Joe Cocker tune. I spent a month in Amsterdam back in '95, and the youth hostel where I stayed had a big TV with a VCR and a HUGE collection of old concert films, American AND European stuff (and a bong :smoke: ), and I must have watched "Mad Dogs And Englishmen" at least 3 or 4 times (First time I had seen the actual film). That was the coolest hostel in Amsterdam (A friend recommended it to me before I flew over there).

I saw Cocker and the Grease Band (with whom I think Cocker was at his best) open for Buddy Rich and the Who at the Kinetic Playground up on Clark St. Great show.
 
Saw Joe Cocker and the Grease Band at the Fillmore East. He was the opening act. The major attration was the Jefferson Airplane. He just blew the crowd away. About 1/2 way through the Airplane set most of the crowd wanted Cocker back.:banana:
 
I've seen him on multiple occasions over the years. Each was a real treat. His band and back up singers are usually top notch. In my opinion he took the Beatles hit "With a little help from my friends" and made it his own. The first time I heard "leave your hat on" was in a military bar on an Italian mountain top. Bought the album the next day.

That would have been incredible! I am a huge fan of the Airplane too, and as far as eye candy goes, Joe Cocker is no match for Grace Slick :lmao:

......And of course, his Woodstock performance. Still cracks me up -- the backup vocals sung falsetto by the "guys" IIRC.
 
Saw him in about 75, by time his set was over the piano was covered with beer cans. Don't remember who the opening act was.

Buddy Rich and Keith Moon in one show?! I think that my head would explode (in a good way) to see them juxtaposed.
