Joined the Sansui club -- 4000 receiver

I bought some JBL speakers from a local guy and he offered to throw in a Sansui reciever. Never owned a Sansui but knew the positive buzz. I bought it from him and had a tech service it.

Wow, I love this receiver.

The warm tone and great reception of FM radio on this receiver is amazing. It sounds better than my Marantz 2330b (don't tell anyone).

I use it now as my main FM runner in the living room with some Dynaco A25 speakers and could not be happier with the sound of jazz and classic rock on local, Chicago FM radio.

Congratulations.Just stunning. It looks brand new. Hears hoping you get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

It would be nice to hear one of these series receivers again.

I bought the 2000A or X (don't remember which) back in early 1970 and kept it for a few years until I ended up trading it in on the Pioneer SA/TX 9100 combo in '73.

I really enjoyed my 4000 while I had it. Only sold it when I got my 5000X.
Bills forced the 5000X out too.

You are preaching to the choir! - the 4000 was my first Sui too - came after several Marantz's - could not believe the punch and detail compared to my 2285B. And it only gets better from there - don't shy away from a single digit series if you come across one. Welcome onboard, we got some really knowledgeable folk around here.
 
Awesome receiver. Does everything well, esp. phono stage. With all due respect, I don't even know that it "only gets better from there." I've had the following Sansuis - 5050, 7070, 990db, 771, 2000x, 5000x, 5500, Eight. The 4000 is the one solid state that is still around (except for the 2000a in the garage). Congrats.

In 1970 at the age of 17 I bought my first stereo, a Sansui 4000. It was hooked-up to four speakers in my small bedroom. It would crack the plaster. Sadly, I had to sell it a few years later when I got married. Last week, 42 years later, I bought my second 4000 on eBay. Although I spent more than I planned, $100, I was presently surprised with the unit. The only issue I can see is that a couple bulbs are burned out. I will fix that, but right now I'm busy listening to it. All of the controls are as smooth as silk, not one bit of crackle. I don't need to hide it in the basement. It is a fine piece of furniture in my living room. It came with the original box and paperwork. :music:
 
Sansuis are special.My 2000x in the basement has better FM reception than everything else down there.I too had a beautiful 2330b in wood for a while but the Sansuis made it expendable.
