jonesing for FOOTBALL

Aunty Em

can't get no.....
Can't wait for August 7, or is it 8? the Hall of Fame game that marks pre-season.

I have no real high expectations for my team (Tampa Bay Bucs) except to IMPROVE, but I REALLY REALLY look forward to watching our guys play.
Hopefully not too many games will get blacked out for low attendance. If so - well, I'll have to get used to listening on the radio!

I don't know why I like NFL football, after all its getting so, I dunno, just kinda dishonorable - seems like almostevery week one of these players is in a new scandal.
I don't care, in a sense, I guess.
(evidently I don't care, cuz I keep watching)

Anybody else jonesing?

I see there is an AK Fantasy league. Wish I knew how to do that - I'd join, but I just really don't know what you have to do. Maybe I'll research it and do it next season. I like that TV show "The League". Anybody know if that will be back?

Anyway, just bored at work and thinking that soon all will again be well with the world when football is back.
(so to speak)

I'm jonesing more for college football than the NFL. My Hokies start the college football season playing Boise State at FedEx (Redskins) Field on national TV. This could prove a tough game. I'm hoping jet lag works in our favor.

As for the NFL, the Redskins season should prove interesting with the new coach (Shanahan), QB (McNabb), and a stable of aged, but once skilled running backs. My expectations aren't real high though.

Yeah! Go Broncos! It's gonna be a great game, pretty much sets the rest of the season for the teams.

I'm pretty pumped for NFL too, got my slot in the AK fantasy league. And the Pack are lookin' pretty good this year.

I'm hoping for a better season out of Univ. of Maryland, than the 2-10 they s(t)ank to last year?
If not, it's bye-bye to the Fridge I presume?

LET'S GO TERPS!!!

The travails of the Fridge are hard to figure. When he first got to MD, it seemed like he was going to launch them on their way to being top tier very quickly. The Terps' performance since his first year or two have been underwhelming.

On the bright side, they usually help the Hokies put one in the win column.:D

Maryland football has always had a hard time recruiting top-rate talent.
The best of the best in Maryland, would often end up at Penn. State.....or your Hokies!
Besides, Fridge's success his first few years, was by players he did NOT recruit himself.

Same applies to MD basketball unfortunately. Different dynamics perhaps (Gary doesn't play nicely with the AAU coaches (to his credit)).

The interesting thing is that MD always ends up putting some good players in the NFL (Merriman, Jared Gaither, Heyward Bey). I guess they just don't have enough of them at one time.

I'm more than ready for some football, but baseball is still going and about to get interesting. The Braves look solid this year and have been a pleasure to watch.

Do the Buc's need a DT?:scratch2:

Yeah we actually could use one. We have a couple of rookies who should be really good though, I hope. We tried to get AH last season but he chose the Redskins over Tampa Bay even tho supposedly our offer (if you can imagine) was higher, plus he'd said he'd love to live in this area. So it boggles the mind.

In any case, best we didn't get him because he may be required to play a scheme that he doesn't like or doesn't feel like adapting to.
So we shall see!

Remember when old-time football players, played BOTH sides of the ball, for not much more than bus fare and meals?

Now you got a multi-millionaire, crying like a baby, 'cause he doesn't like the defensive scheme.....amazing isn't it?

$100 million over 7 years doesn't seem to be enough to make him happy or willing to adapt.:pity:

Will be interesting to see how far Jets will go this year.

The Jets look good but as long as they are in the same division with the Pats, winning the division is going to be hard.

One team that will be fun to watch will be the Browns. Holmgren is now team president and they have an athletic QB in Seneca Wallace. He isn't the greatest but he is exciting everytime he touches the ball.

I personally think Seattle made a huge mistake when they let him go.

Yes, I got it bad. Packer football, Badger football... we live for this in our neck of the woods. I can't wait for the Packer-Vikings games. I just hope that whats his name... you know, the old guy, (the one whose name must not be spoken) throws a dozen picks. If that doesn't work out, my Nephew's a shrink. I'll pick up some anti-depressents and wait for da bears game!
