JumpingBean
...but you're one of them
Happy holidays AK,
I decided to make a new setup thread as the old one is now a bit irrelevant. I'm still chasing the dragon, but I'm reaalllly happy with the current state of affairs.
Later I'll also post about the two far less ambitious auxiliary setups that get a fair bit of use.
Here's the dirty:

VPI Scout 1.1 w/ Dynavector 10x5 cart
Marantz CD6005
Onkyo TA-R240 tape deck
Pre:
McIntosh C712
Power:
McIntosh Mc7150
Speakers:
Dynaudio Focus 340
Headphone amp:
Woo Audio WA6
Headphones:
Sennheiser HD600
Audio-Technica ATH-M50
AKG K612 pro (not pictured)
Cabling:
Speakers: Belding
Phono: VPI
Pre to Power: Morrow MA1
CD Player: Wireworld Luna 7
Power Conditioning:
Furman PST 8
Rack is a VTI that I filled with play sand.
I Know the room I'm stuck with doesn't do full justice to my speakers, but that's an aspect that's much harder to upgrade. The sound is crystal clear and the bass is tight and accurate (and low), but I know that with more space I could definitely get more soundstage. I wasn't even planning to buy speakers this big, but I got offered a deal I could not refuse
Spinning some Jimmy Eat World this morning.
Cans!
Rock records (classical are in another room)
CDs
My tape collection is slowly growing. Most people don't know this, but more and more, DIY punk/hardcore/noise bands are using tapes as a cheap form of releasing physical music.
Old faithful
I think the core of my system has a great synergy. The Mac-Dynaudio combo really makes for a natural and realistic sound. Listening to orchestral recordings really makes me feel like I'm in the hall. I could probably do better than my basic Belding speaker cables, but it will have to wait a while.
