Just found a Denon DCD-2560

okay, I just walked into my local SA and found a Denon DCD-2560. It’s in okay cosmetic shape. The belts need to be replaced (luckily I have some from wsjoe). It’s also scratched up a bit.

I’m wondering if it’s worth keeping and replacing my DCD-1560? My 1560 was upgraded with wsjoe’s Mod 2. He also made beautiful walnut side panels for it. Should I stick with the modded 1560 or replace it with the stock 2560?

If it's anything like the DCD-2700 I'd say it's worth resurrecting. Mine was like new when I got it but took a hit in shipping and had to be repaired. It's a little finicky on some discs and definitely skips more easily than my Yamaha CDX-400u but on the whole it sounds great. Lot's of warmth and clarity with nice bass punch. It was a little edgy sounding at first but after a good break in period it sounds just right, never fatiguing. Listening to Kill em All right now and it's glorious.

I once had a DCD-1500 CDP and then switched to a DCD-1650G, which is a Japanese internal market version of the DCD-2560, if I remeber correclty. The upgrade was significant. The later Denon was one of the best vintage CDPs that I had before switching to contemporary CDPs.
