Just getting started on AK

I have had a lot of electronics training and have good experience with some leading audio companies, but troubleshooting and build-from-scratch are areas where I am very interested and could use some help for sure. I am a fairly skilled speaker builder, including advanced woodworking and finishes. I'm interested in vintage solid state receivers and amplifiers, but am also starting into some tube activity. I have no interest in the Lowrey organ whence I just harvested a huge transformer and a boatload of tubes, but I am very interested in Hammond B3/C3/A100. My big task now is getting a Yamaha CR640 service manual - appreciate any advice on this topic!.

Welcome aboard! And I second keeping tubes, power transformers, chokes and output transformers.

I plan to repurpose the 6V6's and 5U4G into a custom guitar amp. There are many 6X8 tubes that have no value for me, but someone will want them and I'll make a gift of them at some point.

This is great information on the CR-640. Seems I tried the hifi engine site before, but this is exactly what I needed. Thank you very much!!!! Now once I find some 2SC1815 and 2SD734 transistors or suitable subs I should have a fully functional CR-640!

Welcome aboard..
I was also an Eagle Keeper. Started out as an E1, assigned to Langley in the avionics intermediate shops, but from there I went for a commission. Retired in 2017 as a Lt Col, but I still prefer the hands-on electronics.

The 12AX7A's are already sold, but I plan to build a guitar amplifier with the transformer, the 6V6's and the 5U4B. No idea what to do with the 6X8's, but I have a bunch of them!

That's what I've been doing with iron and tubes I have laying around.
So far a 6L6 SE, 6V6 SE and 6K6 SE head amps.

I too was intermediate shop (TITE and TISS) and You.. Stationed at Eglin ,Bitburg and Keflavik..
I remember TITE - just don't recall what it stood for. I always wish I had made it to PMEL, but I was on the automatic test stations and those Bendix stations were just awful. After commissioning they sent me back to Langley and I was OIC of the intermediate shops. I was on F-15's, but also had F-16 assignments as well. Many fond memories.

I remember TITE
TEWS Intermediate Test Equipment it was replaced by TISS TEWS Intermediate Support Suite .. My initial AFSC was F-15 EW/ECM . Early 90's was certified on both Manuals and Automatic test stations as well as TISS..
